24 Feb Calling all Hammersmith Businesses Make Small tap, big change your charity of the year…
Hammersmith BID is asking for businesses to help combat challenges associated with homelessness by choosing innovative initiative Small tap, big change as their chosen charity for 2020.
Introduced towards the end of 2019, the initiative has so far raised more than £5,000, with the money going directly to homeless charities operating in Hammersmith and Fulham.
As businesses begin to think about choosing their good causes for the year, the BID is asking for Small tap, big change to be considered as the BID looks to raise £40,000 by the end of 2020 and continue to tackle not just homelessness itself, but the causes in order to prevent it.
And to make fundraising as simple as possible, Hammersmith BID will work with businesses that sign up to create a bespoke calendar of events tailored to help them reach their goals and meet their corporate social responsibility requirements.
This is a great opportunity for businesses to unite their staff behind a worthwhile cause they can identify with and feel passionate about. Hammersmith BID will be on hand to advise how staff can get involved in fundraising activities, volunteering time and skills, events, challenges and more.
The charities benefitting from the scheme in 2020 are the Barons Court Project, Glass Door, St Andrew’s Church and The Upper Room, with donations funding additional beds, hot meals, washing facilities, outreach services and life skills coaching.
Since its introduction, donations of £2 and above per tap have been collected at contactless devices in pubs, shops and office buildings across Hammersmith town centre. There has also been the additional option to give donations online of any value – with both options empowering residents, businesses and visitors to make a positive difference for those facing challenges associated with homelessness in Hammersmith.
Businesses that have so far supported Small tap, Big change are
Be At One, The Latymers, Hop Poles, Toro Gordo, Barclays, Novotel, Snappy Snaps, Made in H&F, Virgin Media, The Ark, 245 Hammersmith Road, Foundry Assembly London, Kings Mall, Evidera Ltd, the Hammersmith Ram and 10 Hammersmith Grove.
Patricia Bench, Director at Hammersmith BID:
“ We’re really grateful for the support we’ve received since October’s launch and together with businesses, we are committed to addressing the issues around rough sleeping in Hammersmith.
By supporting Small tap, big change, businesses will have a great opportunity to provide vital support to the four great local charities that deliver essential help and services directly to the very people that need it right here in Hammersmith.”
Michael Angus, Director at Barons Court Project:
“Barons Court Project has to raise £150K annually for our work with people who are homeless, so it is essential that we get as many donations as possible. Small tap, big change is a fantastic initiative which allows the community to be involved in solutions to help end rough sleeping. At our drop-in centre we meet basic human needs such as showers, laundry and hot meals and then offer 1-1 support to get people off the streets. We also have a range of life skills and activities to enable everyone to live the life they deserve. Your donations will ensure we can keep offering our vital services to people in need”.
