24 Nov Counter terrorism support for businesses
With the coronavirus pandemic changing all our day to day routines, it is understandable that the risk of terrorism hasn’t featured as a priority for businesses across Hammersmith. Despite this and the lower levels of footfall across our town centre, Hammersmith BID has continued to work in close partnership with the Metropolitan Police and Hammersmith and Fulham Council to ensure that businesses, employees and visitors to the area continue to enjoy an enhanced level of security.
The UK’s terrorism threat level has recently been raised to ‘severe – an attack is highly likely’ and with public places set to become busier on the lead up to Christmas; the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.
One resource we would highly recommend that has been specifically designed to support businesses in reassuring their staff and customers is the Counter Terrorism Policing Toolkit. Find out more here
Another great information source is the Recognising Terrorist Threats Guide aimed at supporting business security teams and front line staff. Created by the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) in collaboration with ACT, this excellent document contains an overview of potential terrorist methodologies, key components of threat devices and other potential attack indicators.
Additional security measures for Hammersmith that the BID have worked in partnership to deliver include:
