Parcels not Pollution named as Finalist in the Global Good Awards

Hammersmith BID’s Parcels not Pollution project has been shortlisted as a Finalist in the Global Good Awards 2021.

The judges of the category, Community Investment, sought out projects that clearly demonstrated how they influenced their community, looked for creativity, innovation, integration and other impacts; and looked for lasting benefits that a programme has created for the local community.

The BID is delighted to have been shortlisted, alongside other incredible projects including Barclays’ Unreasonable Impact programme; OrchLab with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, which facilitates music-making for disabled adults; Aviva and the Red Cross; and RefuAid, the North West Refugee Nurses Programme, which is backed by England’s chief nursing officer, Ruth May.

Our shortlisted entry, Parcels not Pollution, is the BID’s clean air delivery service that was launched in September 2019. Its objective is to reduce traffic, ease congestion and improve air quality in Hammersmith town centre. The project uses electric cargobikes as a more sustainable way to deliver goods in the local area, enabling businesses to send deliveries to a single location, before being sorted and delivered. When businesses were closed due to COVID restrictions, the service expanded to assist the local community with food parcel deliveries and has since developed an office-to-home offering to support hybrid working.

The winners will be announced at an online event on 22 September 2021.
