How to ride an e-scooter safely

London’s streets are increasingly full of e-scooters, parked in their designated bays, or whizzing through the traffic.

This is part of an organised trial with participating Boroughs assessing the impact, cost and availability of e-scooters for London’s commuters. The e-scooter providers are Tier, Dott and Lime.

However, if you have never used one of these vehicles, it might be slightly intimating to jump on one and set off on the carriageway. As part of the BID’s programme of events for Car Free Day on Wednesday 22 September, we are delivering organised e-scooter training and tours from Hammersmith Bridge Road, on the approach to Hammersmith Bridge.

Delivered in partnerships with BikeWorks, Hammersmith & Fulham Council and Tier, the sessions will be suitable for even the most nervous beginner riders, explaining how the e-scooters operate, the rules of the road, and how the booking in and out mechanisms work. You can practice off the road, with a qualified instructor in a controlled environment.

Participants will be given a free foldable helmet after their session, along with some free Tier credit to continue their e-scooter journey!

Four 30 minute sessions will be available from 1pm. It is all free of charge – but please book ahead using this link.

We look forward to welcoming you to e-scooter training.
