Making a contribution to shared spaces

Litter heroes from 245 Hammersmith Road and security company UniTrust Protection took part in a litter picking morning on Friday 10 September.

The event was inspired by the Keep Britain Tidy Litter Heroes campaign, in which people are encouraged to eliminate litter now and for future generations. The aim of the campaign is to change people’s behaviour permanently by educating, innovating and inspiring. People and businesses can see how they can improve the environment on everyone’s doorsteps.

  • 23 Bags of litter were collected
  • Parklets and green borders were watered and maintained

Volunteers cleared up large amounts of litter at Talgarth Road, Hammersmith Flyover and the Business Low Emissions Neighbourhood (BLEN) area, St. Paul’s Church, Lyric Square, and the BID’s parklets at Hammersmith Grove.

As a BID, we encourage all our businesses to take an active part in improving our environment and shared spaces. Activities like these are also a great way to demonstrate that as businesses, we take seriously our social responsibility and commitment to our community.

Volunteers also watered and maintained our parklets and urban green spaces

The volunteers had a visible presence in the town centre, showing the contribution that businesses are making to improve public space in Hammersmith.

A large part of the BID’s focuses on green investment in Hammersmith, and we have embarked on a Public Realm Vision to make the town centre more green, clean, accessible, and enjoyable for all users and residents.
