27 Sep The BID features at Real Estate Live 2021
Real Estate Live UK – is a virtual platform to hear from places and property sector leaders across the UK. It offers three free-to-attend, virtual events taking place each year – in February, June and October. The key themes for the October week are culture & community; sustainable places and wellness.
Following the BID’s input at the June event, we will be speaking again in the October programme. A dedicated session on public/private partnerships, with specific reference to parklets in town centres, will be presented by the BID’s Director, Patricia Bench; and Director of Public Realm, Livia Caruso, with additional input from BID advisor and architect Allan Baird, and Board member Elaine Jackson from A&E Networks. This will take place on Wednesday October 6th at 12 noon, with more detail about this, and the day’s other events, here.
The BID will also contribute to a panel on the 20-minute neighbourhood, on 5th October. The premise of the 20-minute neighbourhood has been put in the spotlight over the last year as the pandemic encouraged people to stay local and health became a key priority for everyone. What are the key aspects needed to create a 20-minute neighbourhood, what regeneration is needed for our local high streets, what infrastructure and services will be required to make it a success? To find out more, register here.
We will also join a panel session on Culture and the high street, together with panel members including Wayne Hemingway, Benjamin O’Connor of New London Architecture, and Sherry Dobbin of FutureCity. The high street is changing as people continue to stay local and retail takes a new approach. Could culture and community help bring people back to the high street? How can this be created and which areas have had success to date? Join the discussion here.
