11 Oct Active Travel Festival
The BID is supporting Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s Climate Carnival, to be held later this month, with a contribution to its Active Travel Festival which will take place in Lyric Square on Tuesday 26 October.
Following up from our successful Car Free Day event on 22 September, in partnership with Hammersmith and Fulham Council, we will be hosting another Dr Bike event, allowing new and experienced cyclists to come and receive a free 10-minute bike maintenance slot. The Dr Bike event will be running from 11am – 4pm, and slots can be booked here. Bike Registering will also be available.
There will be a range of other events going on, including Cycle Tours, a Walking Tour with Blue Badge Guides, and e-scooter companies will be present to talk to you about e-scooter safety and signing up.
The Climate Carnival in October will celebrate the fantastic work of local residents and businesses in their efforts to create climate action together.
The carnival runs from Monday 25 October to Saturday 30 October and includes online and in-person events across the borough for people of all ages. Some of the confirmed events include:
- an open house tour of a retrofitted, green energy home
- the Active Travel Festival being hosted in Lyric Square
- a community panel discussion hosted by HF Cyclists
- an arts and crafts festival focused on ‘Things We Use’
- a rain garden tour in Shepherds Bush
- handy tips on how to compost successfully at home.
The Climate Carnival will represent an engaging lead up to COP26, the United Nation’s Climate Change Conference that is being held in Glasgow in November.
