23 Aug Elaine Jackson takes GOLD!
In August 2022, Elaine Jackson, Hammersmith BID Board Member and Director of Office Management and Post-Production at A+E Networks, took GOLD for Great Britain at the European Bench Press Championships held in Budapest, and we asked her to share her story!
‘When I was a little girl I would watch with my family in awe of Athletes representing England. The pride, passion dedication and drive they must have to reach that position always captured my imagination. Only in my dreams could I imagine that at 52 years young I would be asked to represent England in the Commonwealth Championships 2022 in Auckland New Zealand.
I have to keep telling myself that this is really happening!
It’s proof that if you put in the work and dedication you never know what fabulousness can happen.
Recently I represented Great Britain in Budapest for the European Powerlifting Championships and brought back a GOLD medal – wow. I took part in my first Powerlifting championship at the age of 50, yes you heard that right 50 – age is just a number. I hope to inspire women of all ages to get out of your comfort zone and into the unknown to find out where the beauty lies.
During the day I’m Director of Office Management & Post Production at A+E Networks UK based in Hammersmith. We are the TV channels: HISTORY, Crime + Investigation and BLAZE www.aenetworks.tv.The support I receive from my company sees no-end and I thank them.I train 6 times a week and love every moment, training with my squad and coaches is a real joy.
Powerlifting is Back Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift (SBD). The sport is growing and is one of the many inclusive supports out there, with different age categories, where people compete up to their 90s.
