Have your say in making London’s lorries safer – proposals for changes to the HGV Safety Permit Scheme!
Transport for London (TfL) is reviewing how to reduce the risk lorries pose to vulnerable road users!
With the goal of eliminating all deaths and serious injuries from London’s streets by 2041 in mind, the proposal seeks views on proposal for a Progressive Safe System (PSS) which builds on the Direct Vision Standard (DVS) to improve lorry safety and reduce the blind spots contributing to deaths and serious injuries amongst pedestrians and cyclists.
The proposals under review consider:

- Warnings to vulnerable road users of intended manoeuvres
- Minimising physical impact of hazards
- Improving the scheme application process for operators
- The future of the Safety System
