London Climate Action Week 2024

London Climate Action Week 2024

Join Hammersmith BID in celebrating London Climate Action Week (LCAW), which takes place throughout London from Saturday 22 – Sunday 30 June 2024. We’re mobilising action across the whole of society by hosting our Climate Festival on Lyric Square and bringing back our Clothes Swap in the Livat Atrium.

Climate Festival – Wednesday 26 June, 11am – 4pm (Lyric Square)

During our Climate Festival there will be a range of activities supporting environmentally friendly active travel and biodiversity. These activities aim to encourage collective action and are open to Hammersmith’s employees, residents, and visitors.

E-Cargo Bikes

To encourage sustainable modes of transport, MP Smarter Travel will be showcasing their cargo bikes. Staff will be on-site, highlighting how you can make the switch to zero-emission deliveries and answering any questions you may have about their Parcels Not Pollution scheme.

E-Bikes & E-Scooters

Micromobility companies Lime and Voi will also be showcasing their E-Bikes and E-Scooters. They’ll be on hand to give out helmets (while stocks last) and provide information about their strategies for their London fleets.

Dr Bike & Bike Marking, 12pm – 2pm

On the day, Dr Bike will be providing FREE bike maintenance for Hammersmith employees and residents. They will be giving out advice and checking everything on your bike, from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals, saddles and more.

Free bike maintenance will be accompanied by free bike marking. Hammersmith & Fulham Council will be registering bikes through BikeRegister’s online database, helping to minimise the likelihood of bike theft.

Hammersmith Bees, Wildflower Planting and Bird Seed Pick ‘n’ Mix

During LCAW, Bee Urban and Groundwork (supported by Livat Hammersmith) will be on Lyric Square celebrating Hammersmith’s biodiversity.

Bee Urban will have an observation hive and sample beekeeping equipment for the public to see. During the Climate Festival, Lyric Hammersmith’s resident beekeeper will be on hand with lots of fun facts about bees and will display bee products such as honey and candles.

Wildflowers provide bees with food through pollen and nectar, so attendees will be invited to do their bit by participating in a wildflower planting session. People will also be able to create their own bird seed pick ‘n’ mix to take-home, all to support local wildlife. Groundwork will lead the session, generously supported by Livat, and those interested in further participation can consider volunteering at the Livat Community Garden

Clothes Swap – Thursday 27 – Saturday 29 June, 12pm – 5pm (Livat Atrium)

Every week in the UK, more than 11 million garments end up in landfill. At Hammersmith BID, to provide a more sustainable solution to fast fashion, we’re working with Livat to bring back our clothes swap for LCAW 2024. We’ll be in the Livat Atrium, providing the opportunity for a FREE sustainable summer makeover, encouraging people to bring their pre-loved clothes and swap them for something new.
