22 Jul Q2 Environmental Report
At Hammersmith BID we conduct monthly Environmental & Street Cleansing Walkabouts to support the resilience of our town centre. During these walkabouts, we report issues across the public realm via the Love Clean Streets app. During Q2 2024 we reported 101 incidents across the BID area, almost 60% of which have been resolved following recent escalation. The frequent issues reported across Hammersmith Broadway, King Street and Talgarth Road included graffiti, fly-tipping and highway maintenance concerns.
Graffiti
Incidents of graffiti were the most common issue across the public realm and accounted for around 40% of all reports. Any offensive graffiti was removed within 24 hours of reporting and other graffiti within five working days. In addition to conducting our environmental walkabouts and reporting, we are continuing to work together with LBHF, Safer Business Network and Metropolitan Police to prevent anti-social behaviour and reduce graffiti throughout our town centre.
Fly-tipping
Throughout April, May and June, there were 16 incidents of fly-tipping across the BID area, many of which included the fly-tipping of household waste. However, after reporting via the Love Clean Streets app the waste causing obstruction was removed from the public realm and 100% of these incidents were resolved within the quarter.
Highway Maintenance
Across the previous three months, issues around highway maintenance made up 15% of the total incidents escalated. Reports included problems around broken highway furniture and wayfinding signs. If the Hammersmith BID team comes across any incidents which we are concerned are hazardous, these are reported directly to the appropriate local authority department. However, anyone within the community can report through the app.
