17 Feb Women’s History Month
March marks Women’s History Month, with International Women’s Day on Sunday 8 March.
In Hammersmith, we’ll be celebrating the contributions of women locally and globally, while also working with local businesses and partners to highlight the progress still needed to ensure everyone feels safe and empowered in their city.
Join us throughout March for a programme of walks, exhibitions and events recognising the women who have shaped our community.
Women’s History Month Guided Walk Series
To mark the month, we’re running a Guided Walk Series led by Ann, our expert Blue Badge Guide.
The Women of Hammersmith walks will spotlight those who have shaped Hammersmith across different moments in history. From supporters of women’s suffrage such as Annie Cobden Sanderson, who served on the Hammersmith Board of Guardians from 1910 to 1922, to Dame Elvira Matthews, Director of the Women’s Royal Naval Service during WWII. The walks will also celebrate more recent figures, including Hammersmith-born musician Arlo Parks.
These walks are also an opportunity to connect with other local employees and residents, buildings a shared sense of community inspired by the women of Hammersmith.

‘Walking in Her Shoes’ Exhibition
March 2026 | Livat Hammersmith
We’re working with Advance to bring their Walking in Her Shoes photographic exhibition to Livat Hammersmith throughout March.
Advance, a Hammersmith-based charity, supports women and girls who have experienced domestic abuse or who are involved in the criminal justice system. Through its women’s centres across London and the South of England, Advance provides advocacy, practical support and programmes that help women and girls feel safer, stronger and more empowered.
The exhibition has been created in partnership with women with lived experience. It features images they have taken that capture moments of joy or hold personal meaning, each accompanied by reflections on their journey.
Following its public display at Livat Hammersmith, the exhibition will be permanently housed across Advance Women’s Centres.
