Conscious Hammersmith: Q1 2026 Impact Report

The start of 2026 has marked an exciting new chapter for Hammersmith BID with the launch of Conscious Hammersmith, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme connecting businesses, employees and community organisations through meaningful opportunities to give back.

Over the first quarter, we have focused on bringing people together, strengthening local partnerships, and creating tangible impact across the borough; from supporting those facing hardship to taking action on environmental sustainability and community wellbeing.

Thanks to the collective efforts of our business community, we have already engaged 16 volunteers, worked with several local partners, and supported a range of initiatives designed to make Hammersmith a more inclusive, connected and resilient place for all.

Winter Clothing Drive

One of the standout initiatives this quarter was our Winter Clothing Drive, which brought together businesses and local employees to support charities working with people experiencing homelessness.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, we collected over 251 items of new and pre-loved winter clothing, including coats, jumpers, scarves, hats and gloves. These donations were distributed to organisations such as St Mungo’s and The Upper Room, helping to ensure that individuals in need stayed warm during the coldest months of the year.

This initiative not only provided practical support but also demonstrated the power of collective action when businesses come together for a shared purpose.

H&F Foodbank Drive

Alongside seasonal campaigns, we have also focused on building consistent, year-round support through our monthly foodbank collection drives. Delivered in partnership with Livat and H&F Foodbank, these take place on the first Thursday of each month and provide businesses with a simple but impactful way to give back.

So far this quarter, we have hosted two collection events, with volunteers helping to collect and organise donations that directly support residents experiencing food hardship.

Litter Picking

Environmental sustainability remains a key priority within the Conscious Hammersmith programme. Through our litter picking initiatives, we have worked with local businesses to take visible action in improving the local environment.

As part of the national #LitterHeroes campaign, volunteers have taken to the streets to collect waste, contributing to a cleaner and more welcoming town centre. On Tuesday, 24 March, we had our first event of the year with participants collecting seven bags of litter and over 1000 cigarette butts!

These activities not only improve the physical environment but also foster a sense of pride and shared responsibility within the community.

Digital Champions programme

Beyond volunteering, we have also supported initiatives aimed at building skills and improving access to opportunities. This includes promoting the Digital Champions programme, helping to tackle digital exclusion by encouraging individuals to support residents in building confidence and accessing essential services.

Young People initiatives

We have also connected businesses with opportunities to engage with young people through initiatives such as the West London Partnership Careers Fair and the H&F Upstream Pathway, supporting pathways into careers across STEM and other sectors.

These programmes play a vital role in strengthening the link between businesses and the local community, helping to inspire the next generation and create long-term impact.

At the heart of Conscious Hammersmith is collaboration. Over the past three months, we have continued to build and strengthen relationships with local charities, community organisations and stakeholders.

These partnerships are essential in ensuring that our work is responsive to local needs and that we are creating meaningful, lasting impact across Hammersmith.

As we move into the next quarter, we will continue to grow and evolve the programme, with a focus on expanding volunteering opportunities, deepening engagement with local schools and young people, and strengthening our ESG-led initiatives.

Conscious Hammersmith is a collective effort, and we invite all local businesses to be part of it. Whether through volunteering, partnerships, or supporting community initiatives, there are many ways to contribute and make a difference.
