17 Nov Discover Hammersmith on free Guided Walks
Our knowledgeable blue badge guides have put together a fantastic new schedule for this upcoming autumn and winter season.
On Saturday, December 6 people can celebrate Dick Whittington coming to the Lyric Hammersmith by embracing the popular tale and re-enacting his journey with a slight Hammersmith twist. Other walks will look at the history of the Boat Race and former famous residents William Morris, the 19th Century visionary socialist, author and designer of wallpaper and fabrics and Gustav Holst, the celebrated composer who lived and worked at St Paul’s in Brook Green.
Guided Walks are free for Privilege Card holders and always start at 11am and finish in Lyric Square by 12noon.

FREE GUIDED WALK: A very Hammersmith Christmas
King Street is paved with gold this Christmas as London Mayor Richard Whittington and his super intelligent feline take to the stage at the Lyric.
Let’s celebrate one of the enduring ‘turns’ of the British panto circuit by recreating the tale of Whittington and his cat – Hammersmith style.

Composer of the St Paul’s and Brook Green suites, Gustav Holst also taught, conducted and composed at the school. Hear stories of his life and times, and of the pub where he used to enjoy a swift pint.

FREE GUIDED WALK: Hammersmith Bridge
Hammersmith Bridge is undoubtedly the borough’s most enduring landmark, as well as being one of the most iconic crossings of the River Thames, not least due to its role as the backdrop to one of the most dramatic stretches of the University Boat Race.
We will walk the bridge and hear about its design, construction and near destruction on more than one occasion.
Meet outside the statue at Hammersmith Broadway tube station, 11am.
