15 Jan 2016 BID Counter Terrorism Update
The BID’s well attended counter terrorism events last year showcased how important it is to raise further counter terrorism awareness within the business community.
The threat of terrorism is still very high and the threat level still remains at severe. The two sessions, which were held at the Novotel Hotel in the aftermath of the Paris attacks, highlighted that there was a further need to increase business continuity in case of a terrorist attack, as well as from other issues such as fire, flood or gas leak, which are also more likely to occur.
Every business should be prepared for incidents that can affect its premises and staff and can do so by preparing a business continuity plan. This should include contingency for staff, access to premises, IT infrastructure, clients/customer support, deliveries and business continuation. These plans are essential to maintaining the sustainability of the business in the face of possible disruption.
The BID is working on initiatives to ensure businesses have plans in place and is offering support to make these plans as comprehensive as possible to ensure business sustainability.
