04 Feb Hammersmith Gyratory set to become safer for cyclists
The Hammersmith gyratory is set to become a safer place to cycle round as Transport for London have published new plans that will drastically improve the junction.
Consultation has opened on TfL’s new proposals which would create a a kerb-segregated two-way route for cyclists across the Shepherd’s Bush side of the gyratory, with separate cycle signals. This would means cyclists will be free to go around the gyratory without mixing with fast-moving traffic. It is hoped that this will encourage more peope to cycle in West London.
TfL are also proposing to provide a new bus lane on Beadon Road, between Glenthorne Road and Hammersmith Broadway, to de-clutter the surrounding pavements and increase cycle parking in the area. The proposals have come as part of TfL’s Better Junctions programme, which has outlined 33 junctions in London which need improvements to make them safer for cyclists.

Tfl are also holding three drop in sessions to find out more about the plans at St Paul’s Church, Hammersmith on Wednesday, Feb 18 between 3pm & 7pm, on Wednesday Feb 24 between 9am & midday and on Saturday, March 5 between 9am and midday.
