The BID team recently hosted a stand at Accor’s Planet 21 Day to help them promote sustainability.
The company organises the day to demonstrate its commitment to the environment and local community by encouraging staff members to learn more about sustainability, self-sufficiency and green initiatives. The BID was on hand to sign up staff for volunteering projects which would benefit the local area as part of its Friendly Town mandate.
By adopting a Corporate Social Responsibility businesses can support local organisations and charities by giving up staff time to volunteer on a range of different projects. This can be through practical team building days such as gardening, skills days where employees can call upon their professional knowledge and experience to help benefit organisations, or more individual schemes such as mentoring and fundraising.
