A round up of Celebrate King Street!

A round up of Celebrate King Street!

In collaboration with Hammersmith and Fulham Council (LBHF), Hammersmith BID hosted Celebrate King Street on the 16 October 2022!

Celebrate King Street had over 4,000 attendees and was an opportunity to encourage residents, workers, and visitors to consider long-term behavioural changes and embrace regular car-free days along King Street. We supported council initiatives and put on a range of fun, free activities.

Active Travel

To promote active travel and commuting alternatives, Dr Bike checked and fixed over 50 bikes on Lyric Square and E-Mobility providers TIER, Dott, Lime, and HumanForest led E-Bike and E-Scooter training along King Street.

Zero-Emissions Arts Market

Hammersmith BID’s Zero-Emissions Arts Market, which made it possible to shop handmade items from local traders, made a return for Celebrate King Street. Hammersmith Zero-Emissions market was the first of its kind, where the delivery of stalls and materials is supported by our zero-emissions delivery service, making it the perfect project to showcase during the clean air street festival!

Hammersmith BID offers

Alongside trader stalls, the BID also had a market stall, where we gave out free tote bags to our privilege card holders and discounts on behalf of FRAME, one of the gyms with which we work closely.

Entertainment

Accompanying the various stalls on Lyric Square and along King Street was a range of entertainment options.

Children’s face painting and Circus Workshops ran throughout the day on Lyric Square and we also had a live performance from our vocalists Flo Taylor & Daniel Rivers who played an array of music works exploring all genres from opera to jazz!

Guided Cultural Walk: Merging the old and the new

To celebrate the opening of the new LBHF Cycle Hub under the Flyover, Hammersmith BID organised a Guided Walk where the celebration of Hammersmith’s history and the new LBHF Cycle Hub under the Flyover brought together the old and the new. Please book here if you wish to attend any of our upcoming Guided Walks.

Remarks

Hammersmith BID supports the introduction of more regular car-free days across Hammersmith, recognising how pedestrianized high streets can support local commerce while creating a greener town centre by making cycling more accessible and fun for everyone.

The activities proved the perfect way to ‘Celebrate King Street’!
