27 May ASEL Security Trial
As part of our Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP), we are trialling Argenbright Security Europe Ltd (ASEL) from this month until November to help improve street safety for all, while supporting our high street levy-paying businesses combat shoplifting, anti-social behaviour and low-level crime. Our wardens will patrol the BID’s ring-fenced area five days a week and provide an immediate response service. In an emergency, please call 999 to reach the Met Police.
In the short amount of time that the trial has been running in Hammersmith, our wardens have successfully:
- Deescalated a fight in the town centre where one party was threatening to call the police. ASEL wardens diffused this situation peacefully without the need for police intervention.
- Removed from an F&B business a man who was threatening staff and refusing to leave. When the individual returned, ASEL wardens removed him again and then stayed for 30 minutes to support staff and guard the business.
- While patrolling the street, ASEL wardens spotted someone concealing goods. They entered the relevant shop and upon being noticed, the individual changed tactics and pretended they were confused about the item, replacing it and exiting the shop. The shop assistant expressed thanks for the intervention.
- A store detective was struggling with a shoplifter. The ASEL team were able to offer support, escorting the shoplifter off the premises and ensuring the shoplifter stayed away.
- Recovered £200 worth of steak that was shoplifted and prevented it from being sold illegally.
This six-month trial is fully funded by Hammersmith BID. If you’re a levy-paying business, please tell us what you think about our new street warden service. Your feedback will shape the future of this service. Please email info@hammersmithbid.co.uk for further information or to submit your feedback.
