On Thursday 21 November we hosted our Christmas Tree Switch On in Lyric Square!
The Steel Pan Band Trust opened the event at 5.30pm playing a programme of festive music as we served mulled wine to Privilege Card holders. The Addison Singers then performed a range of Christmas songs and choral works including Silent Night, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and other well-known classics.
At around 6pm, the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Daryl Brown, addressed the crowd with a speech and conducted a countdown alongside the Lyric’s Panto character, ‘Widow Twerkey’, before pushing the button to switch on the Christmas Tree Lights and Livat Hammersmith’s outside lights. After a great cheer of enthusiasm, the steel pan band began playing their second set of the evening.
To top off the festivities, we also hosted a Christmas shopping evening where we encouraged attendees to stick around after the tree switch on to shop special offers, late openings and Christmas treats at Hammersmith’s businesses. Plus, we worked with Livat Hammersmith and the Broadway Centre to continue entertainment throughout the evening. A string duet performed in Livat Hammersmith while the Steel Pan Band Trust continued performing outside the Broadway Centre to keep shoppers feeling festive while they roamed the shops!
