23 Sep CSR and Charity Support
The BID has been engaging in a number of charity support and CSR projects in recent months.
Through lockdown itself, the BID continued to raise money for Small tap, big change; to support the H&F Foodbank with deliveries via Parcels not Pollution; and also provided food parcels to vulnerable and shielding residents.
Since the lifting of restrictions there have been more opportunities to promote or engage with causes through in-person activities.
The BID has been instrumental in organising a pop up stall for HomelessMade, the card manufacturer featuring previously homeless artists. The weekly stall, based at Hammersmith Broadway on Tuesdays, has already raised £678 from card sales and £148 in donations. The BID also welcomed pop-up stalls at our Summer Festival film screenings, providing other opportunities for Barons Court Project, and HomelessMade to raise funds.
The BID offered fundraising and CSR days to levy-payers who wanted to volunteer during July and August. Full training and guidance was offered and provided.
Free cycling tours were offered with our July Dr Bike pop-up, offering new cycle commuters the opportunity to build their confidence on the road. This service will be offered on a regular basis in future months.
Our Big Screen, part of the Summer Festival 2021, hosted content and promotional videos from a range of our partners, levy payers and local charities, all free of charge.
The BID co-organised a Litter Picking Day on Friday 10 September, with 23 bags of litter collected through 12 volunteers from 245 Hammersmith Road, and the BID. This initiative was inspired by the Keep Britain Tidy #LitterHeroes campaign. The BID has also supported the Chari-Tea event, set up by 10 Hammersmith Grove to raise money for Small tap, big change.
The team also organised a full day of free activities focused on sustainable commuting, to mark Car Free Day on September 22.
