17 Jun e-cargobikes wins at Living Wage Champion Awards
Hammersmith BID’s partner in Parcels not Pollution, e-cargobikes, was awarded the prestigious “Employees’ Choice” award at this week’s Living Wage Champions Awards.
e-cargobikes.com was recognised for its championing of the Living Wage, following a strong case made by its staff. The company has always paid the living wage and became an accredited Living Wage employer in 2019.
Previous winners of a Business Green Leaders Award and 2020 winner of the Ashden Award for Clean Air in Towns and Cities, e-cargobikes.com was particularly proud to receive this Living Wage Champion Award in a year that has seen its delivery riders become keyworkers – delivering essential goods throughout both lockdowns.
The company’s goal is to continue to create secure jobs while reducing the number of polluting vans on our streets and offering clients a quality, zero-emission service which is financially viable.
Clare Elwes, co-founder of e-cargobikes.com, commented: “We are hugely proud to have won the Employees Choice Living Wage Champions Award – particularly this year when we have seen our riders deliver essential goods, groceries, meals from food banks and medication from pharmacies with utmost care and dedication throughout the pandemic.
“And not least because this nomination actually comes from members of our team and they are after all the living heart of the company. Everything we have and hope to achieve grows out of all their hard work and commitment and it is an honour to work alongside such a dedicated, creative and good-hearted team.”
The BID’s Parcels not Pollution service, fulfilled by e-cargobikes and supported by Hammersmith & Fulham Council and Transport for London, provides a last-mile delivery service to Hammersmith businesses, helping to keep delivery vans out of the town centre.
