Earth Day

Earth Day

Sunday 22 April is World Earth day and this year’s theme is Ending Plastic Pollution.
As of 2015, the total plastic waste created by humans was estimated to be around 6,300 million metric tons.  To help reduce plastic waste, there are many shops, restaurants and bars in Hammersmith town centre doing their bit for the planet by reducing their plastic usage.
At Lyric Hammersmith Bar & Grill, Costa, Starbucks and Pret a Manger, coffee lovers can enjoy money off their hot and cold drinks when using a reusable cup, while at the William Morris, drinks are served with biodegradable paper straws.
This Earth Day, why not make a pledge to help take care of the Earth?
Here are three simple ways to go green:
1.1. Find a clean air route.  Check live air pollution levels for Hammersmith and find a clean air route to your destination by walking or cycling with the Hammersmith clean air route map.
2. 2. Collect your shopping closer to home.  Choose a ‘click & collect service’ when ordering shopping deliveries to reduce ease congestion.
3. 3. Don’t idle.  Help reduce air pollution by turning your engine off when parked.  Find out what HammersmithLondon is doing to combat idling.
