25 Jun Global Good Award for BID Partnership
Hammersmith BID is delighted to win a Global Good Award for its wider commitment to delivering green spaces, cleaner air and promoting cycling.
The Parklets in Hammersmith scheme received a silver accolade at the ceremony held on 19th June at BMA House in London. This project is a collaboration between Hammersmith BID, Hammersmith and Fulham Council, Medidata and the Mayor of London.
The Parklets in Hammersmith project was shortlisted and won under the Community Partnership’s Social & Environmental Sustainability category and has been praised for being ‘an innovative business model.’
The gold award went to Hogan Lovells and Barefoot College’s partnership to bring clean, renewable light to 20,000 families by training 400 women across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Pacific Islands. The bronze was awarded to the Thames River Watch Project by Tideway & Thames 21 for gathering data that is supporting campaigns for change on the plastic epidemic.
The Global Good Awards seek to promote, and be inspired by, organisations and projects committed to sustainability and promoting positive change.
Hammersmith BID’s vision for a cleaner borough resulted in a joint effort towards the creation of eight green spaces that have been transformed into four vibrant green parklets situated on Hammersmith Grove, designed and installed by Meristem Design. The successful scheme has received an award from the Mayor’s Healthy Streets programme. The prestigious Hammersmith Society’s Nancye Goulden Award, has also been awarded for the Parklets and planters under Hammersmith Flyover. This award recognises smaller schemes that have improved the local environment through architecture or landscaping.
