30 Mar Hammersmith businesses support the NHS
During these unprecedented times, Hammersmith businesses are doing what they can to support the NHS workers who are all taking care of our community.
Many thanks to the Novotel London West for providing rooms for NHS staff at their hotel. They are supporting these key workers during these unprecedented times by offering them local accommodation while they will be working long shifts and may otherwise struggle with long journeys back and forth every day.
Kings Mall shopping centre is providing over 180 free car parking spaces for NHS staff working in local hospitals.
Medidata has donated 180 N95 face masks to hospitals in the community, with the support of Hammersmith Academy.
Sainsbury’s has also made changes to all supermarket opening hours from Monday 23rd March. NHS ID holders have priority Monday to Saturday 07:30 – 08:00. Elderly customers, carers and disabled customers have priority Monday, Wednesday and Friday 08:00 – 09:00.
Iceland is also implementing priority shopping for NHS workers the last hour of trading. In Hammersmith, that is now 8pm – 9pm every evening. They also have shopping hours for the elderly and the vulnerable, 8am – 10am every morning.
Tesco has prioritised a browsing hour for NHS staff, every Sunday from 11am – 12pm, giving them dedicated time to shop for their essentials.
LEON has created the #FeedTheNHS scheme, which has garnered huge support with other food outlets and celebrities spreading the word. They are almost at their target goal of £1million raised to provide hot food to NHS staff at this difficult moment. To donate, or find out more about the scheme, visit the webpage. E-cargobikes.com, the operators of the BID’s Parcels not Pollution service, also supports the initiative, distributing over 3000 LEON food pouches to NHS staff in our local hospitals. LEON is also offering 50% off to all care workers, as well as free coffee for all retail and hospitality workers.
We are very grateful for all of our NHS staff and the tireless work they do, keeping the community safe and healthy.
