11 Jul Hammersmith Highline exhibition extended
Wild flower gardens, hanging fish tanks, suspended bridges and biomes are just some of the wonderful and exciting ideas that are on display in Kings Mall.
Hammersmith BID is pleased to announce that the must-see Hammersmith Highline exhibition has been extended until July 21st following an overwhelming positive response from visitors, residents and businesses.
With such an array of designs, the aim of the competition was to re-imagine a disused railway section and the surrounding area while drawing on inspiration from the New York high-line.
One of the ideas submitted includes David Whitehead’s ‘The Overgrownd’ model (entry 251 pictured) which brings this concept to life and is now on display in Made in H&F shop. The idea is made up of a multi-use architecture and wild gardens among other fantastic perceptions.
Another inspired idea on show is Marcus Shields work (entry 199) that references Hammersmith’s ancient ‘Vineyard Nursery’ with the design featuring names of plants from the nursery that was founded in 1745 by James Lee and Lewis Kennedy.
The winning designs from the Hammersmith Highline competition along with the models made by the local schoolchildren are on display as a part of the overall exhibition. The display is located in Kings Mall Shopping Centre in the upstairs foyer and downstairs near the H&F shop.
The competition was set up in partnership with West London Link.
Kings Mall shopping centre, as a part of the #startupmall campaign, and Medidata sponsored the prizes for the overall winners and schools competition.
