25 Jan Hammersmith Honey proves a huge hit
The honey produced by Hammersmith BID and the Lyric Theatre has proved a huge hit with local residents.
The BID teamed up with the theatre to house three bee hives on top of the Lyric last summer, giving a home to approximately 18,000 Buckfest bees.
Urban beekeeping tries to address the alarming decline of the bee population by providing a safe area for them in which to thrive. The bees also helped the Lyric’s green sedum roof mature through pollination, thus improving air quality and biodiversity in the local area.
There was also one more additional, and delicious, bonus – honey.
The Hammersmith Honey has been extremely popular, selling out at the town’s Christmas market in December and is still proving a big hit at the Lyric café.
People especially like the fact that it is a locally-produced product, with all honey’s health benefits – not least, helping with allergies and hay fever.
There will be more Hammersmith Honey on its way soon, so make sure you keep an eye out for the next batch!
