18 Jul Hammersmith’s Green Infrastructure
Hammersmith’s Green Infrastructure:
One of Hammersmith BID’s key proposals is to create a new and green Public Realm Vision. To fulfill our commitment to Hammersmith’s Green Infrastructure, in partnership with London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Hammersmith BID has created a strategy to revive and enhance the parklets and planters in and around the town center. Bulbs and shrubs were planted along Talgarth Road in May 2022 and daily watering of plants began in June. However, there is much more to come!
Hammersmith Grove Parklets
In the Hammersmith Grove Parklets, failed plants will be removed and where revival is possible, plants will be cut back. However, following resident consultation, decisions have also been made regarding new plants:
- Pink, purple, white, and yellow evergreen plants will bloom from April through to October.
- Pink, purple, white, and blue Herbaceous plants will bloom from April to October.
- Galanthus nivalis from will bloom January- February.
- Leucojum aestivum from will bloom March-April.
- Golden hops.
Shepherds Bush Road Over Stone Road Tree Pits
Following the conclusion of roadworks, planting on Shepherds Bush Road Over Stone Road Tree will be carried out by Friends of Brooke Green.
Butterwick Road
Along East Side of Butterwick Road, an addition of organic soil will be used to support the growth of ivy and additional bulbs will be planted. Ivy on the West Side of Butterwick Road will be removed and replaced with bulbs.
Talgarth Road
On the North Side of Talgarth Road, plants will be trimmed to encourage further growth and on the South Side of Talgarth Road under the flyover, shrubs, perennials, and bulbs capable of flourishing in the testing flyover environment will be planted:
- Pink, purple, white, and yellow evergreen plants will bloom from March through to October.
- Pink, purple, white, and blue Herbaceous plants will bloom from April to October.
- Galanthus nivalis will bloom from January- February.
- Leucojum aestivum will bloom from March-April.
- Fritillaria melleagris will bloom in April.
Our goal continues to be to make Hammersmith a more pleasant place to live, work and visit. If you have any queries regarding Hammersmith BID’s plans for Green Infrastructure, please don’t hesitate to email a.altenausmith@hammersmithbid.co.uk.
