IKEA to open in Kings Mall in 2021

Hammersmith’s Kings Mall shopping centre is set to become an Ingka Centres ‘Meeting Place’; a mixed-use destination for the community, anchored by an IKEA store.

The opening of the new, small-format IKEA store will be accompanied by a range of improvement works throughout Kings Mall, including a host of new retail and community offerings that will transform it into a place to shop, eat, relax and socialise.

The redevelopment of the mall will support London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s overarching objectives for the regeneration of Hammersmith town centre. The works are also intended to make Kings Mall a more open, safe and inviting environment.

Inside, Kings Mall will be upgraded and refurbished, with proposed redevelopment plans including the creation of a community hub, featuring different pop-up food and beverage offerings, as well as a unique space dedicated to inspiring workshops, lectures and activities, as well as opportunities to gain new skills to support wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle. The mall’s existing atrium will be reorganised and will include a new meeting space and a mezzanine café. This is intended to be used during the daytime and will include some areas of outdoor seating on the western edge of the atrium.

Subject to planning permission, these improvement works are scheduled to take place in early 2021.
