London Climate Action Week 2023

London Climate Action Week (LCAW) is taking place from Saturday 24 June – Sunday 2 July 2023. At Hammersmith BID, we are getting involved, hosting several events to support businesses achieve their environmental targets.

What is LCAW?

Harnessing the Power of London for Global Climate Action

Founded in 2019, LCAW seeks to create a resilient net-zero future by harnessing London’s power as a leading global climate hub. LCAW creates a cross-sector platform for businesses, politicians and NGOs to showcase their work and discuss how they can act together.

What is the focus for 2023?

The goal for LCAW 2023 is to promote cooperation between key parts of the London climate ecosystem and will focus on:

      • Accelerating the global clean economy
      • Delivering fair, inclusive and just climate transitions
      • Expanding networks for Whole of Society Action
      • Creating a greener London with and for Londoners

Bee Urban will be on Lyric Square from 1 pm – 4pm. They will have an observation hive, sample beekeeping equipment and lots of fun facts about bees. Lyric Hammersmith’s resident beekeeper will be on hand to answer any questions and will be selling honey and candles on the day.

Community Green Volunteering, Central Hammersmith, 28 June, 12 pm – 2 pm

Hammersmith BID works with the community to support the Keep Britain Tidy campaign. We facilitate litter-picking sessions and other green volunteering opportunities as part of our sustainability commitment. Every act to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference. The campaign inspires people to eliminate litter for current and future generations. Green Volunteering can help permanently change behaviour, spotlight the problem and offer creative solutions. Volunteers keep a tally of cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles and bulky items they collect throughout the litter-picking event. The BID team gathers these figures at the end and reports them via the Keep Britain Tidy website.

You can sign-up here to get involved and join #LitterHeroes across the UK.

Livat Clothing Swap, Livat (Sook Space), 29 June and 30 June, 11 am – 4 pm

Together with Livat, Hammersmith BID will also host a Clothing Swap, working with Londoners to create a more sustainable future. Each week, 11 million garments end up in UK landfill. We want to help stop this trend by ensuring pre-loved clothes are circulated and find a new home.
