Celebrating Make Music Day 2024

Celebrating Make Music Day 2024

Last Friday, Hammersmith BID celebrated Make Music Day, a global celebration of making music that takes place every year on 21 June. The event was held in Livat Hammersmith (Atrium) and several local artists performed in 30 minute slots to ensure a steady flow of live music throughout the day.

Together with Livat Hammersmith, using IKEA probs we created a centred space where musicians performed. Starting things off at 11am, students from The Rhythm Studio performed a DJ set that ignited the shopping mall’s atmosphere and contributed to Hammersmith’s Friday feeling. Following on from their set, other artists including Martha Hobbs, Jemimah Paine and Imani Yashua performed their original material.

This year, we hosted Make Music Day in collaboration with Livat Hammersmith who were also hosting their Swedish Midsommar Fest to mark the summer solstice. Besides the Make Music Day programme, we also heard Swedish songs from Midsommar singer Karianne, and there were a number of free activities, such as a flower crown making station and face-painting.

Thank you Livat Hammersmith for partnering with us on such a wonderful event and all the local artists who performed!
