28 May Menstrual Hygiene Day
28 May marks Menstrual Hygiene Day, a global initiative raising awareness and driving action against period poverty. At Hammersmith BID, we’re inviting businesses to join us in championing period dignity and collectively moving toward a #PeriodFriendlyWorld.
- Donate period products locally
Hammersmith & Fulham Foodbank provides food and other essentials, including period products, to those in need of support. You can donate to various places in Hammersmith, including Hammersmith Library and Livat Hammersmith.

- Sign up to volunteer with Flow Happy this Menstrual Hygiene Day
Hammersmith BID works closely with Flow Happy, a Community Interest Company committed to ensuring period dignity by providing free access to essential menstrual products and education. They’re inviting businesses to get involved in their corporate volunteering opportunities.
Hands-on volunteering days
Flow Happy’s volunteering days are fun, educational and impactful, giving teams the chance to engage in meaningful activities such as:
- Painting and decorating period cabinets – Help brighten up period product cabinets in libraries and community spaces
- Stocking and refilling period cabinets in libraries and community centres – Ensure free period products are accessible where they’re needed most
- Packing period products into bags – Assemble period parcels and packs
Skilled volunteering
Businesses can also support Flow Happy by offering expertise in any field, including:
- Finance & Budgeting
- Marketing & Communications
- Fundraising & Partnerships
- Operations & Logistics
- Research & Impact Measurement
Corporate sponsorship and workplace initiatives
Flow Happy also offer businesses the opportunity to make a lasting impact through sponsorship:
- Sponsor a period cabinet – Fund a cabinet in a community space or in your own workplace
- Sponsor a location for a year – Cover the cost of product refills in a library or community centre, ensuring ongoing access to free period products
- Host a period dignity workshop – Promote inclusive workplace policies and support menstrual health education for your team
These opportunities are a great way for businesses to engage employees, fulfil CSR goals and contribute to tackling period poverty.
- Offer free period products
Offering free period products for employees and customers can help foster period dignity. Something as simple as filling a bathroom cabinet with period products can help break the stigma around menstruation and make people feel supported.
As part of our partnership with WalkSafe, we are putting safe and welcoming spaces offering free period products on the map. If your venue would like to be part of the WalkSafe map, please email us.
