Parcels not Pollution reaches new milestone

Hammersmith BID’s environmentally friendly delivery service has completed over 2,000 deliveries in its first nine months of operation.

Parcels not Pollution, the zero-emissions delivery service led by Hammersmith BID in partnership with Transport for London and Hammersmith & Fulham Council, carried out its 2000th delivery during lockdown, as part of our shift to community support. The service has been used to deliver food parcels to vulnerable or shielding residents, and has resulted in a marked increase in usage – 1000 deliveries have been completed in the last three months alone.

Launched on 16th September 2019, the free service was originally aimed to ease congestion and improve air quality in Hammersmith. In the face of COVID-19, and lockdown, the service has provided invaluable support for businesses looking to operate in different ways, as well as within the local community.

As well as delivering free food parcels, Parcels Not Pollution also supports the H&F Air Quality team in collecting diffusion tubes in 57 locations across the Borough to monitor pollution levels. It also offers free home deliveries of recycling bags to Hammersmith & Fulham residents, via the council’s waste team.

The service is operated by e-cargobikes.com and delivers between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
