09 Aug Hammersmith BID partners with sustainability app
Hammersmith BID is pleased to announce a new partnership with the popular food waste reduction initiative and retail platform, Too Good to Go, to help members attract new consumers and fight food waste. Every year, UK food businesses waste 100,000 tonnes of surplus food – but Too Good to Go is one way to reduce this.
The partnership will make the online service more accessible for Hammersmith businesses, by offering an administration fee waiver of one year, for new commercial users.
The Too Good To Go app lets businesses sell surplus food to local customers to save it from going to waste. Customers use the app to reserve and buy a surprise ‘Magic Bag’ of food that has not been sold by a particular cafe, retailer or restaurant, then pick it up at a time set by the store. There’s no need for stores to predict what won’t sell; they simply load Magic Bags with whatever’s left over, setting a price that’s fair for them and the customer.
Through the scheme, businesses can recover lost revenue while reducing both the cost and impact of their food waste. At the same time, customers are able to get delicious meals at a much lower price when offers become available.
New businesses, referred through Hammersmith BID through August – September 2021, will pay no admin fee for the first year. It’s very quick to set up a profile and start tackling food waste.
To take part, businesses can simply sign up in August and September. This link is unique to Hammersmith BID, and so applicants will be automatically referred as a Hammersmith BID business and the discount will apply.
