30 Nov Postponement of second Zero-Emissions Market
We regret to announce that, following direction from Hammersmith & Fulham Council, our second Zero-Emissions Arts Market, scheduled for 12 December has had to be cancelled.
This is in response to current COVID conditions.
The BID intends to continue with the Market in Spring 2022 as soon as circumstances allow.
London’s first zero-emissions market launched successfully on Hammersmith Bridge Road on Sunday 28 November.
With fourteen traders selling a variety of handcrafted goods, shoppers were able to browse jewellery, hats, artwork and prints, clothing and linens, and jams, chutneys and honey. There was a wide choice of Christmas gifts, and the majority of traders lived or worked in Hammersmith and Fulham.
Shoppers were also able to take advantage of eScooter training, delivered by Lime on site; as well as a pop-up Dr Bike bicycle maintenance offering.
The market was attended by the Mayor of Hammersmith and Fulham, Cllr PJ Murphy, and his consort, who viewed all the stalls and made some purchases.
The market was operated using zero-emissions. All of the stalls, gazebos and tables at the event were delivered to the site using an electric vehicle – and stallholders’ wares were delivered using e-cargo bikes on the morning of the market. Festoon lighting was installed using solar power. Visitors were encouraged to attend using public transport, or by foot or bicycle. In addition, deliveries were on offer, also using an e-cargo bike, for visitors who needed their shopping taken home.
Homemade mulled wine was on offer, free to Privilege Card holders. It was delivered to the market site using an electric vehicle, and kept hot in oversized thermos jugs.
The market took place on the approach to Hammersmith Bridge, which is currently pedestrianised, and an under-utilised location in Hammersmith
