19 Jul Prestigious award for BID’s green scheme
It’s a celebration for the BID as their environmental projects receive a prestigious award from The Hammersmith Society.
The parklets and Hammersmith’s Business Low Emissions Neighbourhood (BLEN), which includes the planting under the flyover, have both received the highly regarded Nancye Goulden Award for making a positive contribution to the local streetscape.
The air quality projects have been recognised by the Hammersmith Society for their overall design.
The BLEN includes ivy screens that withstand the difficult environment for plants under the Flyover, and also serve a significant purpose in that they absorb vehicle fumes and pollutants, screening passers-by from the harmful emissions.
The Hammersmith Grove Parklets have enhanced the area’s green space and have positively resulted in a boost to local trade. The scheme has been highly regarded with the Nancye Goulden Award, being the third in a line of honours that the collaborative venture has achieved. The successful project also won a Healthy Streets Awards in October and a Global Good Award in June.
Patricia Bench, BID Director, said: “Our partnerships are key in being able to deliver the best outcomes for the local business community and we look forward to continue working collaboratively on current and future projects.
The project is a part of a wider programme that aims to deliver green spaces, cleaner air, and promote cycling is a partnership between Hammersmith BID, Hammersmith and Fulham Council, Medidata and the Mayor’s office.
“We are delighted to have received the Nancye Goulden Award for both our projects from The Hammersmith Society.”
