12 Oct Pubwatch & Shopwatch keeping Hammersmith safe
HammersmithLondon’s crime-reducing Shopwatch & Pubwatch schemes are helping to make the town centre a safer place to visit and do business.
The Stonemasons Arms kindly hosted another Pubwatch meeting as part of the HammersmithLondon Business Crime Partnership, which helps to fight crime in the town centre.
The meeting introduced PC Keulen to the forum as our new Pubwatch police contact who will be providing the forum with important information about criminals and anti-social behaviour affecting evening economy businesses. At the meeting another 3 unwanted patrons were banned for a total of five years bringing this year’s running total of offenders to 11. Warnings letters were also issued for less major offences and there are a couple of cases that will require close monitoring.
The Shopwatch website is continually being updated with new offenders for retailers and their staff to watch out for. There are now 40 offenders on the site, the vast majority of whom, were arrested for shoplifting items worth a total of almost £3,000 from Hammersmith retailers.
The website offers users an array of target files to monitor with a full report of the incident that took place. Retailers are urged to sign up to the site to ensure that security and shop floor staff are briefed on the threats to their businesses.
