16 Jan Q1 2024 Hammersmith Broadway Ward Panel Meeting
On 10 January 2024, Hammersmith BID attended Hammersmith Broadway’s first Ward Panel Meeting of the year. These meetings are chaired by a local resident and attended by the area’s Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) from the Metropolitan Police. The SNT were there to provide updates, answer the public’s questions and as a listening exercise. Attendees were then invited to set priorities for the next quarter, with the SNT agreeing to focus on these areas of public concern.
The meeting began with an introduction to new members of the SNT – Hammersmith BID wishes to welcome Sergeant Octavian Andreescu and Constable Roxana Bucura to the area.
The Chair then confirmed the SNT’s recent actions, including:
- Increased foot patrols;
- Increased special operations;
- Increased CCTV enquiries;
- Increased engagement with local young people; and
- Tackling aggressive shoplifting.
Hammersmith BID, as representatives of the local business community, are pleased to support the SNT’s approach towards aggressive shoplifting. The BID voiced theft from shops as a key priority which it would like the SNT to focus on during this quarter. The BID also hopes its new collaboration with Safer Business Network, creating a Business Crime Reduction Partnership, will contribute positively in the fight against shoplifting.
Overall, attendees decided that the priority areas for Q1 2024 should be:
- Robbery;
- Theft (including shoplifting);
- Vehicle crime; and
- Drug offences.
The meeting closed with thanks to Riverside Studios for hosting the event. For those interested in attending the next Ward Panel Meeting, please contact the SNT via this form.
