Q1+Q2 2025 Environmental Walkabout Report

Q1+Q2 2025 Environmental Walkabout Report

At Hammersmith BID, we are committed to ensuring Hammersmith is a clean and welcoming town centre by conducting monthly Environmental & Street Cleansing Walkabouts. During these walkabouts we monitor and escalate issues via the Love Clean Streets app. Posting on the app notifies the local authority of issues such as fly-tipping, graffiti and highway obstructions, among other things, which allows for steps to be taken to resolve them. Between January and June this year we reported 285 incidents, and 74% of them have already been successfully resolved.

FREQUENT ISSUES BEING TACKLED

Fly-tipping

Fly-tipping was the most frequent issue across the town centre in Q1 and Q2 of 2025, with 102 incidents making up 36% of all issues we reported since January. This includes many cases of people leaving personal waste by public bins, as well as furniture and home appliances. The majority of these cases have been resolved, and we continue to work with Hammersmith and Fulham Council (LBHF) to curtail the prevalence of fly-tipping across Hammersmith Broadway, King Street and Talgarth Road.

Graffiti

Graffiti was also a frequent issue across the Hammersmith area, making up a further 26% of all incidents reported between January and June 2025. Any markings of an offensive nature were removed swiftly and we are working with LBHF, Safer Business Network and Metropolitan Police to help tackle anti-social behaviour and reduce graffiti throughout Hammersmith.

Highway obstructions

In the last 6 months there have been 47 reported incidents of items causing obstruction across the public realm in Hammersmith. This includes abandoned bikes and other objects blocking public footpaths and cluttering public spaces such as bicycle racks and green areas. On top of our reporting via the Love Clean Streets app, we work together with the Law Enforcement Team (LET) at LBHF to action the removal of clutter, helping us clear many of the major obstructions in the town centre.
