Businesses recycle a whopping 23.5 tonnes in July

BID businesses have helped divert 23.5 tonnes of waste from landfill this month by recycling a massive 23,485 kilos.

This is the largest monthly amount recycled over the past 12 months. First Mile, the BID’s recycling contractor, aims to recycle as much of that waste as possible but it is never possible to achieve 100%.

In July they were able to recycle 84% of this waste, which in turn helped to save the equivalent of 267 trees bringing the total up to 2,961 trees saved over the past 12 months.
This equated to 33.8 tonnes of C02 saved, adding to the year’s total of 373.9.

The service is free to our BID members and is probably one of the easiest to use and most comprehensive recycling services around.

If you aren’t already on the scheme we urge you to join up and save as much waste as possible from being put into overcrowded and environmentally unfriendly landfill.
