A Safer Hammersmith this Christmas

A Safer Hammersmith this Christmas

The Hammersmith BID funded CCTV operator and his team have been playing a significant role in improving safety and security across our town centre throughout 2021. Working in close partnership with the Metropolitan Police and the newly formed council Law Enforcement Team; CCTV has directly supported our business community and enhanced safety in the area by managing over 1,000 incidents and proactively coordinating 67 arrests this year.

Key to this success is our SafetyNet radio network that provides a fast-time link between participating shops, banks, pubs, and corporate premises, directly to CCTV. This ensures that our businesses are fully supported in the event of any crime and issues of concern.

As some businesses increase trade and others may be working from home over the festive period, rest-assured our CCTV team will be keeping your streets safe by:

  • Delivering an enhanced service focused on women’s safety and ensuring that everyone can celebrate safely this Christmas and New Year.
  • Supporting our retail sector during their busiest time of the year and with the ongoing challenges they face advising customers on the latest covid recommendations.
  • Providing our licensed premises and hospitality industry with dedicated CCTV coverage throughout the night.
  • Proactively scanning the town centre for suspicious behaviour 24/7.
  • Keeping a watchful eye over businesses closed for the holidays, and covering our corporate security teams on their daily and nightly patrols.
