07 Oct Security advice for your business
At Hammersmith BID we are dedicated to building a strong sense of community and ensuring that Hammersmith is a place where everyone feels welcome. In light of last week’s terror attack in Manchester, our security partners have reissued advice on how to help keep your workplace and Hammersmith safe. Hate Crime Awareness Week begins on Saturday too, so take the time to learn and share how to report incidents in Hammersmith.
Guidance and resources
Safer Business Network, our security partners, have issued guidance on how to stay alert and how best to act and respond in the event of a terrorist attack. The guidance is intended not to alarm, but to ensure local workers and visitors to the area are equipped with the knowledge that can help protect them and raise the alert. Click here for a PDF that can be circulated within your company and network.
We highly recommend Protect UK’s free ACT Awareness e-learning course for your staff and that your organisation reviews your readiness and incident response plans regularly. A helpful list of links can be found on the Protect UK website.
Hate Crime Awareness Week 2025
Hammersmith & Fulham Council, along with Hammersmith BID, are committed to tackling hate crimes in the borough. The Council published an extensive strategy in 2024 on how to tackle and report hate crimes in the borough, and support community cohesion. With Hate Crime Awareness Week returning on Saturday, make sure your workplace is aware of how to report incidents to the Community Safety Team, as well as to the Police:
- Fill out this form online
- Email hatecrime@lbhf.gov.uk
- Call 020 8753 2693
The Council’s Community Safety Team will get in touch with you to offer tailored support and to discuss the next steps. You can also report to the Met Police via their online form or by calling 101.
In an emergency, always call 999.
Crimestoppers is a 100% anonymous way to report information by phone or online, 24/7.
For further information from the Community Safety Team, drop by Lyric Square on Monday 13 October, for their Awareness Week pop-up.
