19 May Step 3: Reopening in Hammersmith
This week has seen Step 3 – the latest stage in the roll-out of the Government’s roadmap to unlocking.
Indoor hospitality has been allowed to reopen, and it has been fantastic to witness the increased footfall in Hammersmith town centre, as well as seeing diners and drinkers enjoying meeting indoors.
Hospitality venues have been allowed to seat groups of up to 6 people, or larger groups consisting of no more than 2 households, indoors. This includes restaurants; pubs; bars, including those in hotels or members’ clubs; social clubs; cafes and canteens.
Performance arts venues including cinemas, theatres, and concert halls have been allowed to reopen. This also includes outdoor performance venues which were previously required to close until Step 3. Additionally, indoor entertainment and visitor attractions have reopened, such as amusement arcades; indoor play areas; gaming centres; casinos; bingo and snooker halls.
Conference and exhibition centres are also now permitted to open for conferences, exhibitions, tradeshows, and private dining and banqueting events; up to 1000 inside, and up to 4000 outside, within COVID-19 guidelines.
Businesses are required to operate in a COVID-19 secure manner, and specific, detailed guidance for each sector can be found here. This includes for offices and contact centres, hotels and other accommodation, performing arts venues, and close contact services such as hairdressers, beauticians and sports therapists.
Your business may need to put up an NHS QR code poster to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Find out if your premises needs to do this, and download it here.
Employers in Hammersmith & Fulham can also ask their employees to take a regular lateral flow test – these are offered for free in the borough through a network of testing centres. Find out more about how to do this, and the benefits, here.
Hammersmith & Fulham Council is still offering local business owners the chance to use extra outdoor space throughout Step 3, and as the national lockdown is eased. This scheme, Our Space is Your Space, can be accessed here.
Businesses can download a COVID-secure poster here; and a safe distancing notice here, to assist with social distancing.
