20 Feb ULEZ Expansion

By the 29th of August 2023, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will encompass Greater London. If your vehicle doesn’t comply with the emissions standards, you may obtain a daily charge of up to £12.50.
Why?
-
-
- The expansion hopes to clear the city air and improve the public health of Londoners, as pollution is one of the contributing factors for premature death, both centrally and across the outer areas in London. This expansion will reduce the emissions in London for another 5 million people.
- TfL believes they can hit the air quality targets by sticking to the current guidelines of the ULEZ zone, so there are currently no plans to make the ULEZ regulations stricter. The goal is for at least 80 per cent of all journeys to be made by foot, bike, or public transport, i.e., by sustainable or active travel.

- As with previous phases of the ULEZ scheme, there will also be a Scrappage Scheme, whereby those eligible can receive financial assistance to scrap vehicles that don’t fit the ULEZ guidelines and will receive grant payments toward cleaner and greener forms of transport. This video provides information about the new scrappage scheme.
- There are also a variety of support offers available to all Londoners to help save money and use greener forms of transport.
- The Mayor has also introduced a £110m scrappage scheme to support microbusinesses and charities to scrap non-compliant vans.
