Oxfam’s Second Hand September campaign is just around the corner, meaning our FREE Community Clothes Swap is back.
If you’re looking to swap some pre-loved garments and pick up some stylish secondhand pieces, join us at 245 Hammersmith Road on Thursday 12 September (just in time for London Fashion Week!). The clothes swap will be open from 12 pm – 6 pm, with a Sip ‘n’ Swap taking place from 4 pm – 6 pm, where you’ll have the opportunity to network and enjoy some drinks and nibbles while you swap.
So far, our clothes swaps have saved over 700kg and 2,400 items of clothing from ending up in landfill. Our swap is the perfect way elevate your style and celebrate slow and ethical fashion.
How it works
To participate, you can donate up to six clothing items, which you can swap for up to six new-to-you garments. Surplus clothing from the event will be used at a future clothes swap or donated back to local charity shops in Hammersmith (e.g., Traid and Royal Trinity Hospice).
Second Hand September Clothes Swap Guidelines:
- The event will be held from 12 pm to 6 pm on Thursday 12 September at 245 Hammersmith Road, with a Sip ‘n’ Swap happening from 4 pm – 6 pm
- The event will be run on a first come first served basis
- Participants should bring reusable shopping bags for their clothes
- There will be no changing rooms at the event and participants must not change in public
- Participants can donate up to six items of clothing to the event, this does NOT include shoes, pyjamas, children’s clothes, accessories or swimwear
- For every one item donated, participants receive one ‘swapped’ item
- All clothes donated must be in a clean and wearable condition
- The event organisers reserve the right to refuse donations they deem to be in an unacceptable condition
- Participants are encouraged to wash their new items before wear
- Except as laid out above, no purchase or payment of any form is required for entry into the event, though extra clothes donations to a charity partner of our choice are greatly appreciated
