27 Nov 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence (2023)
16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence runs from Saturday 25 November to Sunday 10 December. This year’s theme is centered around the need to ‘UNITE’ and calls on governments, private organisations, civil society and women’s organisations to support a global effort to eliminate violence against women and girls. What is Hammersmith BID doing?
The campaign calls on citizens and organisations to highlight how they are investing in supporting gender-based violence prevention. To ensure Hammersmith is a safe space to live, work and visit, we continue to work with the community, seeking to eliminate violence against women and girls. Browse our ongoing projects below:
- Women’s Safety Forum
Hammersmith BID’s Women’s Safety Forum is an opportunity for organisations across the local community to establish how to create a safe and accessible town centre, night and day. You can access resources and find more information on our webpage.
- Active Bystander Training
At Hammersmith BID, we also see the value of Active Bystander Training as a tool for helping to eliminate violence against women and girls. The Suzy Lamplugh Trust has partnered with L’Oréal Paris to bring the expert-approved “Stand Up Against Street Harassment” international training programme by “Right To Be”. You can sign up here and email the BID team to inform us how many employees completed the training.
- WalkSafe
As part of our Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP), Hammersmith BID has partnered with WalkSafe. WalkSafe is a free personal safety app with an enhanced feature highlighting local safe spaces. You can download the app and use the map to view Hammersmith’s ‘official’ safe spaces. Safety measures may include security staff, ‘Ask for Angela’-trained staff, accessible phone charging points and free sanitary products. Scan the QR code below to download the App.
