03 Jun Michelle Abbey joins the Made in H&F team
Made in H&F welcomes Michelle Abbey to the team. Michelle has built her career around audience development and community engagement in the arts, having worked at the Chelsea Theatre, London Music Masters and London Philharmonic Orchestra before joining Made in H&F.
Michelle sees her role as an exciting opportunity to support local artists and craft makers in the heart of Hammersmith and Fulham, planning community engagement events and workshops.
Michelle explained: “Made in H&F is much more than a pop-up shop, it is a creative hub that welcomes a diverse array of people through the door each day. I feel I have embarked on a project which will make the local area more welcoming and accessible. The organic concepts behind Made in H&F, and the strong connection with heritage, culture and people, strike a chord with me and underline many of the various projects I have undertaken throughout my career.”
Michelle added: “To me, cultural development is a human experience and a form of expression that is superior to language. It allows us to combat a depth and richness of meaning, and emotion that cannot be rivalled by words. This belief is my motivation and has been the key to my success in my creative endeavor.”
Awarded with the Best Audience Developer prize at the Fringe Report Awards in 2008, Michelle is celebrated for her innovative thinking and remarkable work introducing entirely new groups of participants and individuals to creative engagement programmes. The award reflected her crucial work towards inclusion and harmony in the arts, undertaken with affection and dedication.
