09 Oct Raising Awareness of Hate Crime in Hammersmith
Hammersmith BID will be supporting National Hate Crime Awareness Week with an event on Wednesday 16 October 2019, 10:30 – 14:00 on Lyric Square, Hammersmith. The event will feature key partners such as the Metropolitan Police, Victim Support, TELL MAMA and Chelsea FC.
Hate crime occurs when a person is targeted because of hostility or prejudice towards their or their perceived disability, gender identity, race or ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation. Incidents can manifest in various formats and during criminal offences that may include verbal abuse, physical threats, online abuse, graffiti, criminal damage and violence. Whether it’s targeted against customers or staff – the threat of hate crime in our business community is a reality that can have a devastating impact on the victim’s quality of life if unaddressed.
