Parcels not Pollution Latest Updates

Hammersmith BID’s Parcels not Pollution delivery service is continuing to operate throughout the Covid-19 crisis.

The operation has changed much more towards doing what we can to help our local community.

This includes delivery of the Hammersmith Community Support packages, in partnership with Kings Mall shopping centre and Sainsbury’s, to local residents. We have supported over 200 households this month through this service.

Parcels not Pollution is also supporting Hammersmith & Fulham Foodbank in various ways. Our rider is still collecting donations from Sainsbury’s in Kings Mall, North End Crescent and Townmead Road. The BID has also worked with W12 shopping centre to create a new donation point outside Lidl, from which the rider collects donations and delivers them to the Foodbank’s headquarters at Olympia multiple times a week. In addition, a second rider has been hired to help deliver Foodbank parcels from Olympia to local families.

The Parcels not Pollution service also continues to work with local borough bakeries Bygram Organic and Little Sourdough Kitchen to provide free home deliveries for their customers.

We are also offering free home deliveries of recycling bag to Hammersmith & Fulham residents, via the council’s waste team. Please contact cleaner.greener@lbhf.gov.uk if need any help getting more Smart Sacks.

Finally, we are continuing to work with H&F Air Quality team in collecting diffusion tubes in 57 locations across the borough to monitor pollution levels. This will be very important to discern the impact of lockdown on air quality and to make future learnings to improve air quality.
