Hammersmith BID is working with Hammersmith’s businesses to keep the local area tidy.
Litter-picking days are part of our sustainability commitments and support the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign, which believes every action to protect the environment, no matter how small, makes a difference. Our goal is to inspire people to eliminate litter for current and future generations. Hammersmith BID aims to permanently change behaviour by spotlighting the problem and offering creative solutions for improving the environment on everyone’s doorstep. We believe it is people’s right to live and work in places they can be proud of, leading us to join #LitterHeroes from all over the UK.
Volunteers from the Disney Green Team
Earlier this month, as part of Hammersmith BID’s initiative to engage businesses in our Public Realm and Green Investment initiatives, Hammersmith BID hosted a Green team Speaker session with the Disney Green Team from Parks and Resorts. The speaker session informed the Disney Green Team of all the work we are doing to improve Hammersmith as a place to live, work, and visit.
Following on from the speaker session, as part of our Green Volunteering Programme, Hammersmith BID organised an afternoon of litter picking with volunteers from Disney on 29th November 2022. Volunteers met outside 3 Shortlands for a quick briefing before heading into the town centre to clean different areas, including Hammersmith Road, Lyric Square, Hammersmith Grove Parklets, and St. Paul’s Green.
A huge thank you to our 16 enthusiastic volunteers at Disney who removed 8 bags of litter from the town centre, including miscellaneous items such as socks, gloves, and wet rags, as well as 75 cans, 80 bottles, and 600+ cigarette butts!
